Why GPS tracker rather than Bluetooth

Bluetooth tags are great, right?

We all know about different companies pushing their Bluetooth technology to consumers.

Ones like Tile, Apple, Samsung, you name it they likely have Bluetooth device aimed for finding your item.

Not so quickly

Even those tags are inexpensive and sounds great that they just piggy bag on your or someone else’s phone, that’s part of the problem. For example Apple AirTags following Apple device providing it’s location information for extended period of time will alert the device owner that there is unknown AirTag following it. Not exactly the heads up you’d like to give to someone who has taken unauthorized control of your asset. It is also incredibly easy to programmatically spoof the location of one’s phone. Meaning that your precious Bluetooth tracker might be reported tens or hundreds of kilometers away from it’s true location. Or not at all if no compatible consumer device is around to report it’s whereabouts.

Independent communications

With GPS trackers you have device which independently knows it’s location and communicates it to your service.

You don’t rely on someone else to provide you the location and status or indeed mislead you to the wrong tracks.

But we are also selling Bluetooth beacons

Absolutely, there is place and use for those beacons. You could use them for driver recognition, making sure that your toolbox is in the van when you leave the jobsite, monitor temperature of your cargo to avoid broken cold chains or freezing of your temperature sensitive titles. There is a possibility to keep a track of implements your machinery is using or cargo you’re carrying.

But all these use cases requires something actively tracking those beacons and providing the data communications for them. And we think that something rather be your own device under your control than some bypasser who happened to have correct consumer device to send the information out for you.

Partnering with Teltonika

For the above reasons we here at TRACKMYSTUFF are partnering with Teltonika Telematics, Europe’s leading manufacturer of GPS tracking and telematics devices. Teltonika doesn’t collect your data or location. They don’t want to be in the business of handling your private information, to the point to not even offering their own software. That’s why they only partner with service providers like us who are taking care of the customer and supplying the software stack to receive the communications from their devices and representing that to the device owner.

With TRACKMYSTUFF Fleet Management Platform your data is not going to China, it’s not shared unintentionally or sold to third parties, but stays withing Europe in our servers. You decide to whom and how it’s accessible and what you want to do with it. Your tracker is not dependent of your current mobile phone or tied to it by any means, should you loose your mobile device, your asset locations would not be gone with it.

We also won’t lock you out just because you happened to be rude to your voice assistant or some other silly reason.
